Spanning 1,500 hectares of olive groves, sunflower fields, and green-gold woods, Le Torri di Bagnara is a sprawling estate that combines the privacy of an aristocratic country home with the beauty of Umbria’s untouched nature. Except in this case, the aristocratic home is a collection of medieval castles and towers that boast a longstanding heritage and family lineage. The property is steeped in history and stepping foot here takes you back in time.

Le Torri di Bagnara

Le Torri di Bagnara was built between the 11th-15th centuries, and the property has been the private castle residence of Count Giunta Tremi since 1901. Today, it is owned by Zenaide Giunta Tremi, the estate’s gracious hostess, who restructured the property together with her late mother, Adela Tremi.

Zenaide has fascinating stories to share about her noble family line, which descends from Napoleon Bonaparte. She also opens the doors to her private home — a veritable fairytale castle — for private events, including intimate weddings in the Italian, hedge-lined garden.

The castles of Le Torri di Bagnara are located a short distance from several famous artistic towns. These include Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Spoleto, and Orvieto. The castles are an excellent place to stay to explore the region’s art and culture while enjoying the luxury of time and space. Overlooking Umbria’s heartland, all you hear is the sound of a gentle breeze, the chirp of cicadas, and bees fluttering around the estate’s rosebushes.

Plan an Event

The property sleeps 30 guests total between two manors. The first, Castello di Pieve San Quirico, is an elegant castle/villa containing an intimate courtyard. It functions as the “heart” of the estate. The second, La Torre di Bagnara, features apartments styled in a medieval fashion. In between the two lies a panoramic, saltwater pool that is blessed with sunshine all day. The outdoor pergola is a beautiful place to relax with a book, or enjoy an al fresco lunch in between dips in the pool.

A new edition in 2023 is a recently refurbished watch tower. Perched on top of a hill, the watch tower offers unique, luxurious accommodations for up to 15 guests. A stand-alone structure, it has 3 levels with 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. It must be rented together with the Pieve San Quirico castle (Main House).

Le Torri di Bagnara is available exclusively for family vacations, wellness retreats, and weddings, to ensure privacy and comfort.

The estate partners include Si Weddings who help with everything from floral design to sourcing photographers. Additionally, Le Torri di Bagnara’s staff is ready to cater events for up to 60 people. The castle is also home to an 18th-century Parish Church; available for both religious weddings and civil ceremonies in Italy. Get in Touch with Nature

Le Torri di Bagnara is the perfect place to unplug. With five walking and biking trails on the property, you’ll be able to spend some time exploring Umbria’s verdant countryside. One local experience you certainly can’t miss is truffle hunting on the private estate. You’ll be accompanied by a professional truffle hunter and his dog in search of black truffles around the property. Walk through the woods, past the picturesque olive groves to sniff out this prized delicacy before reaching a panoramic viewpoint. Here, you can enjoy a truffle picnic and sparkling wines to celebrate your bounty.

If you’re lucky, you may even come across roe deer and hares that have repopulated the area. Zenaide is a true animal lover and ensures her estate is protected from hunters. As a result, wherever you choose to explore, you’ll be immersing yourself in a completely tranquil ecosystem that celebrates nature and all its inhabitants.

Food & Wine

Zenaide’s team can also help arrange cooking classes where you can pick herbs and seasonal vegetables from the estate’s garden. Whether you want to master gnocchi, tagliatelle, or lasagne, Le Torri di Bagnara’s chef is on-hand to design a menu to suit all requests. Enjoy a private wine tasting in the castle’s courtyard, hosted by one of Lungarotti’s sommeliers. You can also tour nearby wineries in Umbria.

For an exclusive experience, hop onto one of Italy’s largest hot air balloon to explore the Umbrian countryside from up above. You can also opt for a helicopter tour. Golf lovers certainly won’t want to miss an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. — just a 10-minute drive from the estate.

Eco-Sustainability

Sustainability is a part of daily life in the countryside, and the property is eco-sustainable. Le Torri di Bagnara uses rain water to irrigate its vast fields, and its swimming pool is cleaned with sea salt. Energy is generated through solar panels and all food is seasonal, fresh and sourced from local farms. Electric charing stations are also available on-site.

Whether you’re looking for a location to plan a fairytale wedding or searching for a hideaway to enjoy time together with friends and family, Le Torri di Bagnara is an idyllic retreat where you can experience the aristocratic lifestyle and the beauty of the Umbrian countryside.
