Home to hundreds of thermal pools, natural hot springs, and volcanic fumaroles, Ischia has been a coveted wellness destination for over 3,000 years ago. There are 30 different types of healing waters on the island which are purported to cure a myriad of skin conditions and enhance your over wellness. Everyone on the island seems to have a miraculous story to share after bathing in its healing waters and now you can experience its health benefits directly at home with Made in Italy skincare produced on the island of Ischia. Here are a few of our favorites brands.

D’Isolana Skincare

D’Isolana Skincare is a new skincare line founded by Jen Esposito, an American entrepreneur with southern Italian roots. Currently based in Arizona which boasts some of the most celebrated spas in the world, Jen knows a thing or two about wellness and aimed to create a product that would help support locals in Italy while helping to share its heritage in a tangible way back in the United States.

D’Isolana features thermal water from the Fonte delle Ninfe Nitrodi in Ischia, a natural spring on the island that is that has been sought after since the Greek and Roman periods. The brand has a wide range of products to pamper and heal your skin, from the Rosemary Hydrating Mist a nourishing and smoothing spray that hydrates your skin, to the Illuminating Gold Mask which increases skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines. Everything is produced directly at the springs to ensure the thermal water is at its purest state.

Divine Cosmetics

Divine Cosmetics is a skincare label created by sisters Sara and Marina d’Ambra of Casa d’Ambra, the oldest winery on Ischia that dates back to 1888. The name is a play on the word “divino” (divine, or “of wine”) because the products are made using the winery’s red grapes, Piedirosso and Guarnaccia, two varietals that are native to the island and used to make the Casa d’Ambra‘s celebrated red wines.

Grape seeds are a popular ingredient in skincare because they are rich with polyphenols – micronutrients that have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties to help protect and rejuvenate your skin. Divine Cosmetics launched with an anti-age skincare line which includes specially-formulated creams for hands, face and body and a powerful serum which helps to combat the effects of UV-related stress. We love the sustainable packaging, made with glass jars with wooden screw caps that you can reuse in the future, and sweet grape scent of each product.

Ischia Spaeh

The Fonte delle Ninfe Nitrodi is considered the oldest spa in the world and was the site of a devotional center honoring Apollo and the nymphs, lending it its name. You can see still ancient votives on display in the park and it’s well worth a visit in Ischia for its beautiful setting and a truly magical atmosphere. The thermal water has been studied for decades and is beneficial for skin-related illnesses, including psoriasis and acne, as well as gastric disturbances including ulcers, stomach inflammations and heartburn.

You can enjoy the water’s miraculous properties in the Ischia SPAEH line developed at the Fonte delle Ninfe Nitrodi park. Choose from dozens of different functional products including sprays, soaps, perfumes and anti-aging products. We love the luxurious Whiterapy line which features ingredients like myrhh and frankincense in alluring Oriental Mediterranean fragrances.
